How It Works

Gaits of Hope offers a variety of experiential programs for children, teens, men and women, veterans, first responders, and corporate teams. Each program is designed to help individuals gain greater awareness of themselves, strengthen emotional regulation, and move forward with renewed confidence and purpose.

Founder and facilitator Jodine Adelman brings a lifetime of experience with horses and extensive training in equine-assisted services. Her work integrates knowledge from multiple professional methodologies including Equine Wisdom Integration Method (EWIM), Integrated Appreciation Method, Inner Capital, EAGALA, ARCH, and FBEAL. Through years of experience working with individuals and groups, these approaches have been thoughtfully adapted and combined into the unique Gaits of Hope program format.

At the heart of the program is the natural ability of horses to respond honestly to human energy and emotional state. Horses do not judge, analyze, or carry expectations. Instead, they respond to what is present in the moment. This allows participants to observe how their internal thoughts, emotions, and patterns influence the world around them.

Through guided exercises with the horses and reflective facilitation, participants begin to recognize beliefs, behaviors, and emotional responses that may be keeping them stuck in difficult cycles. As awareness grows, individuals learn practical ways to regulate their internal state, shift perspective, and approach challenges with greater clarity.

Participants who engage in the Gaits of Hope programs often report meaningful improvements in areas such as anxiety, stress, anger, emotional overwhelm, relationship struggles, and loss of confidence. Many experience a renewed sense of hope, purpose, and direction in their lives.

All work at Gaits of Hope is done from the ground, allowing participants to focus fully on emotional awareness, personal insight, and meaningful interaction with the horses in a safe and supportive environment.

With the guidance of an experienced facilitator and the honest reflection of the horses, individuals are given the opportunity to see themselves more clearly, release what no longer serves them, and move forward with lasting change.
